Mila Kunis at SAG Awards

I love everything about this look. This what I envisioned in my head when I arrived to accept MY Academy Award. I wanted the dress to look all ethereal and wispy except in blues and greens like a mermaid. Her hair is perfect party hair. I'm so over all these tight updo's. I never liked them and they're rarely flattering. Anyways this look rocks and I loved Mila in Black Swan. I want to be a Black Swan this year for Halloween for sure.

I have always loved Halloween. I am getting excited just thinking about it. I know I can't look for a costume this year because I will have a newborn and not be leaving the house, but I just love looking at images of Halloween, smelling the burnt wood smell in the air and feeling the spirit.

Halloween Crafts From Martha

I am sooooo excited for Halloween even though I'm basically missing the holiday altogether this year. I love the sudden change of weather, the warming comfort foods associated with the fall season, the colors; gold, brown, orange, navy, pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, I love it all. My sister and I always take a stroll through Stats, this craft store down the street to look at their yearly Halloween display. Its usually pretty outrageous!

I would call myself mildly crafty. I am more craftalicious with food than raw materials. I was on Marthastewart.com today and saw some cute projects that I think I could handle. Check it...

I can't believe its Fall. We haven't even had summer yet in LA. I wonder if we will get that weird delayed summer that brings heatwaves in September and October. I kinda hate that. I'm a New Englander so when its Fall, I want FALL, even if we haven't had a summer. I know, I'm gloomy. I like overcast skies and windy days too. Rain's cool but only if it only lasts a day or two. Anyways I'm excited for Fall clothing, it reminds me of back to school and crisp days and not sweating through my clothes or being uncomfortablr sleeping at night. See? You like Fall too.

Honey took me to see one of my fave band last night, My Morning Jacket. It was sublime. Super chilly night at the Greek but thanks to mini Ellman in my belly I was 10 degrees warmer than normal. I love this idea of mixing patterns in a really bold way. I don't think I can pull this off pregnant. However, there needs to be a blog or a site to show pregnant women how to dress chicly and pull it off in a way that enhances the bump. I want to look swank, not like a balloon.

FYI Cheap Chicas is the best blog. It shows you how to pull together all the of the moment looks for less!

Storksak Dori black leather (faux) diaper bag as seen on Jessica Alba - too Swank! Plus my dude won't be totally freaked out by carrying it. It kinda looks like a man purse anyway.

I'm a little jealous of their incessant craft projects but then again not. I am creative but in the kitchen. I am not really a DIY, glue gun and scissors girl like my sister. Kitchen Canary

I took the most delightful cooking class up in Silverlake 2 Sundays ago. The company was called Spork and it was a Gluten-free AND vegan cooking class! If that isn't totally me then I just don't know...we made GF chocolate chip almond butter cookies, white bean and brown rice soup, and the beautiful polenta triangles with swiss chard and chickpea fritters you see above. It was a lovely little group of fun people and afterwards, we sat down to eat everything like a real family at the dining room table. Jenny Goldberg is one of the sisters that run the classes and she was funny, knowledgable and darling.

Another one of my fave cooking classes is at Simple Gourmet in Redondo. Melanie, the owner and instructor is super down to earth and makes everyone feel at home. Its a relaxed atmosphere and a lot of people bring wine to share. This week I went TWICE (crazy girl). 2 nights in a row.

The first night was one-pot meditterranean meals. I mean who doesn't love throwing everything into one pot? We made pasta fagioli, tomato bread soup and meatball tagine. Everything was delish. She even put out a fig and ricotta pizza for us to snack on when we arrived. BONUS.

Night 2 was Reducing White foods and featured apple cake made with whole wheat flour, the most insanely delicious poppy seed pancakes with citrus syrup, a super crunchy farro salad with fennel and yogurt and chicken and sweet potato curry over brown basmatic rice. I always walk away with great tips like the best way to cut and apple and who has the freshest produce in town. I love soups and stews in cold weather. Mmmmmm.

NYE

NYE was super fun this year.

It was all the usual spots we frequent but love and this time with a limo to haul us all around so it was supah special.

I had the pre-party with skinnygirl margaritas and cheese with my homemade black pepper parmesan crackers (Ina Garten's recipe), then Dan Tana's for steaks and martinis, then the 900 club.

I loved my hair extentions so much I think I cried when I took them out on Sunday.

Boots

OTK (over-the-knee) Boots are pretty raging right now. The Joie (directly above) are pretty hot, but I'm pleased as punch with my Guess numbers. They completed my Lady Gaga halloween costume.I have them in black but the Mushroom color shown up top is equally divine. I love light grayish leather boots. I need a pair.

FALL, I love thee

Oh my goodness. I LOVE Fall. I know its technically turning into Winter as we speak but just let me embrace it for a moment. Tights, sweaters, back to school jitters, the smell of burning wood at dusk and the upcoming holiday excitement in the air. It is a smell. I always said I could smell Halloween and Christmas. Today I definitely smelt Thanksgiving. I'm just waiting for the LA Beach City weather to get a smidge colder so I can pull out my tights and my cords...and my boots.
